Sherry is MarTech & Data Lead at Suncorp, a financial services Group offering insurance and banking products and services through a network of brands across Australia and New Zealand. With 15 years’ experience across 1:1 campaigns, loyalty, data and technology, Sherry has a passion for connecting technology to business and customer outcomes. This results in strong connections into marketing and equally digging deep into data management and technology solutions – a powerful combination to ensure the organisation unlocks the value of technology by anchoring back to business pain points and new possibilities. This has seen her collaborate, consult and inspire new initiatives from smaller enablement pieces to the implementation and adoption of enterprise platforms. Sherry’s most recent implementation of the Customer Data Platform at Suncorp brings together customer and anonymous behavioural information to enable more data-driven and responsive customer communications. The critical elements in this success have been how to best realise the fundamental purpose of the platform and make it accessible for end-users. Outside of work Sherry enjoys spending time with her husband and two young sons, enjoying the beautiful Queensland weather and catching a moment of quiet.

Yuping Liu-Thompkins is Professor of Marketing and Director of Loyalty Science Lab in the Strome College of Business at Old Dominion University. Dr. Liu-Thompkins is an expert on building customer loyalty and habit through effective marketing programs. She specializes in combining customer data with consumer psychology to derive useful customer insights and actionable marketing strategies. Through collaboration with national and international companies in travel, retail, financial, and other industries, Dr. Liu-Thompkins has studied extensively the design and effectiveness of a loyalty program as a tool for customer retention, cross-selling, and customer growth. With a personal passion for technology, Dr. Liu-Thompkins is also known for her expertise in digital marketing, especially the use of social media for branding and customer engagement purposes. Dr. Liu-Thompkins has published her research in top marketing journals such as Journal of Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Interactive Marketing, and Journal of Advertising. She has made media appearances in New York Times, Washington Post, NPR’s Marketplace and With Good Reason programs, and various podcasts. Amadou Doumbia is the Business Development Marketing Executive for OpenSparkz where he manages the loyalty technology firm’s marketing and communications initiatives to raise awareness of the next generation PaaS solution. His career has been built on connecting individuals, companies, and organisations across a range of sectors through the power of marketing and communications. Born in Mali and raised in New York City, Amadou’s experience includes marketing and communications management positions at Accor, Marriott hotels and Ovolo hotels. He also has held account management positions at various communication agencies, including Magnum & Co and Sling & Stone.

Amadou’s passion and motivation for loyalty stems from his fascination with user journeys and experiences. “At the end of the day, businesses would be nothing without the users/customers they service. How a someone interacts with a business’ product or solution is vital. Mapping that journey, identifying pain points, and making it as seamless as possible is what drives me professionally. At OpenSparkz, the journey and experience to better loyalty is core to our foundation, and something I think is revolutionising what loyalty means in this age.”

Dean is the CEO and co-founder of Australian marketing automation software company TaguchiMarketing Pty Ltd (“Taguchi”). With over 20 years experience in enterprise software development and data driven customer communications, Dean appreciates the challenges and opportunities today’s marketers face in maximising the potential from the plethora of data options available. It’s this exciting data driven world that inspires Dean and the team at Taguchi to develop software and services for their clients that not only integrate into their businesses but also evolve in line with their changing business requirements. “Our goal is to help our clients amplify results, improve operational efficiencies and develop an ongoing competitive advantage”. On a personal level, Deans go-to movie is National Lampoons “Animal House” because laughing so much it hurts, can only be good for you. The quote “Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans – John Lennon” epitomises Dean’s approach to life.

Cristina Ziliani, Ph.D is Professor of Marketing at the University of Parma, Italy. She lectures on loyalty management at leading universities and business events around the world, including the US, Japan, UK, France and Spain. She has been the Director of the Osservatorio Fedeltà UniPR (Loyalty Observatory) since 1999, dedicated to research, consulting and education on Loyalty Management, CRM and CX. She is the author of +50 research papers on loyalty and 5 books, the latest being “Loyalty Management. From loyalty programs to omnichannel customer experiences” published by Routledge.

Alvaro leads the Sustainability and Wellbeing team for Qantas Loyalty. Over the last 12 months, he has led the development and implementation of the Green tier, helping Qantas Frequent Flyers become more environmentally friendly in their daily lives.

Alvaro has over 15 years’ experience in commercial planning, partnerships and customer strategy, across several countries including Spain, Ireland, UK and the UAE, mainly within the travel industry. Alvaro is passionate about the environment and loves delivering valuable and relevant experiences to customers to increase engagement and loyalty.

He holds a Bachelor’s in Law and an Executive MBA from the University of New South Wales (AGSM).

Outside of his day job, Alvaro is a Board Director of Media Diversity Australia, a not-for-profit championing greater cultural and linguistic diversity representation in the Australian media. Alvaro is also Chief Business Officer at Out For Australia, an organisation supporting and mentoring LGBTQIA+ professionals to be themselves in the workplace and the community at large. 

Michael Smith is a co-founder of the Loyalty Security Alliance (LSA) as well as a Board Advisor for Airline Information (Ai Events). Ai Events run conferences for Loyalty Programs (including Fraud) as well as Payments, Co-brand cards and Ancillary Merchandising for the airline and travel industries.

With a career spanning British Airways (managing the non air partner’s of BA’s Frequent Flyer Program, the Executive Club) and Financial Services he’s a frequent speaker at events on the topics of Account Take-over, Loyalty as well as Loyalty Fraud.

Dr. Dimitrios Salampasis is the Director, Master of Financial Technologies and Lecturer of FinTech Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Swinburne School of Business, Law and Entrepreneurship. Dimitrios is a Visiting Professor of FinTech at the University of Québec at Rimouski, Canada, a Blockchain and FinTech Fellow at the Singapore University of Social Sciences, a Visiting Faculty at the School of Management in Fribourg, Switzerland and an Academic Council Member of the Global FinTech Institute. Dimitrios is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Senior Associate within the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and a member of the CPA Australia Digital Transformation Centre of Excellence.

Dimitrios is the recipient of the 2021 Blockchain Educator of the Year Award by Blockchain Australia and the 2021 Swinburne University Vice Chancellor’s Engagement Award – Industry Engagement (Individual).

Prior joining academia, Dimitrios worked in the management consulting industries.

Dimitrios is regularly involved in advisory work with key private, public and governmental stakeholders of the Australian and international FinTech and broader business ecosystem. Dimitrios has a strong media presence in Australia and internationally.

Rohan is the Vice President of Business Solutions for the Asia Pacific team at Collinson, a global leader in loyalty and benefits, and traveller experiences.

With over 15 years of experience working in consultancy and in-house roles across the region, Rohan is passionate about creating greater end-customer value and business impact on client engagements. Adept at taking strategy into execution, Rohan channels his experience across a breadth of industry verticals into leading data-driven-marketing programmes for global brands – with a specific focus on loyalty strategy, technical implementation and programme management.

In his previous assignment, Rohan led the loyalty service line for Merkle in APAC. This role comprised building regional solutions, including setting-up off-shore delivery centres, training and enablement of teams, as well as overseeing client delivery.

Outside of work Rohan engages in a variety of interests, such as running, playing the guitar, and being an amateur chef.

Julian Hewitt has built a career as a leader in Loyalty Analytics across some of Australia’s largest loyalty programs. His experience is broad, ranging from campaign analytics and optimisation, using customer insight to unlock business performance and loyalty program benefits evaluation.

Currently, Julian is the Senior Manager, Performance at Medibank for the Live Better Rewards loyalty program, where he is responsible for driving the performance framework, the processes and insights that support the fastest growing health and wellbeing program in Australia, which now has over 500,000 members.
